Welcome to the second annual Parade of Playhouses!
A benefit for Habitat for Humanity Kansas City
BUILDING ON a 30 year tradition of creating affordable housing and new life opportunities for Kansas City families.
OPENING NEW DOORS to raise community awareness and INVITING FOLKS IN to help recruit volunteers and raise funds for Habitat for Humanity Kansas City.
STARTING SMALL, BUT THINKING BIG. Parade of Playhouses lines up sponsors and volunteers to construct, custom decorate, display and auction off functional children's playhouses and doghouses - new for 2010! - to benefit the larger mission of Habitat for Humanity Kansas City (HFHKC).
THE PROCESS Using in-kind services and supplies, dozens of house frames are pre-constructed. The "raw" houses are then adopted by businesses, churches and nonprofits that complete and decorate their respective houses with the appropriate and creative theme of their choice.
The customized houses are then put on display at their sponsoring location to raise awareness of the event. In late April, they will be taken to Crown Center for the Parade of Playhouses Family Fun Day on April 24th, creating a miniature "Habitat Village." The entries are placed on public display, judged for awards and prizes, and auctioned off to the public.
